Privacy policy

This policy explains how TaleSpool collects and uses information when you use the studio.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, sign-in details and session information. If you sign in with Google, we receive the profile information needed to create and secure your account.
  • Your creative work: scripts, prompts, recordings, images, music, reference material, generated media, project settings and exported videos.
  • Usage and technical information: generation and export activity, credit balances and transactions, errors, and technical logs needed to operate and protect the service. Our hosting providers may also process IP addresses and browser information.
  • Payments and support: purchase identifiers, amounts, currency, payment status and messages you send us. Payment details are collected by Stripe or Link; TaleSpool does not receive or store your full payment card number.

How we use information

We use this information to sign you in, save and edit your work, generate media you request, assemble and deliver exports, manage credits and payments, provide support, investigate failures, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations.

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our agreement with you, legitimate interests in running and securing the service, legal obligations, or your consent where required.

Who processes your information

Your projects are not published to other users. Authorized operators may access account information and project content when needed for support, troubleshooting, security or legal obligations.

We use service providers to run the studio: Vercel for the web application, Amazon Web Services for storage and processing, Google for optional sign-in, and Stripe and Link for payments. When you request AI features, relevant text, audio or reference images are sent to OpenAI and, if you select an ElevenLabs voice, relevant text is sent to ElevenLabs. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies.

We may disclose information where legally required, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate protections. We do not sell your personal information or use your project content for targeted advertising. If you accept advertising cookies, Meta also processes the information described under cookies below.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser storage for sign-in, security and studio preferences. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other features from working.

On the production site we count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. It records the page address (without project or video IDs), the referring site, country, browser and device type, and does not follow you across sites. We skip it when your browser sends Global Privacy Control.

If you arrive through a partner's referral link, we keep its referral code in a first-party cookie for up to 60 days and save it with your account when you sign up, so the partner can be credited for purchases you make within 12 months. We don't set it when you have turned advertising cookies off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control.

To learn which of our links and ads bring people who go on to use the studio, we keep where your visit came from in a first-party cookie for up to 90 days: the campaign tags in the link you followed (such as utm_source), the referring site’s name (not the full address), the page you landed on, and whether you arrived from an ad on Meta, Google, TikTok or Microsoft (not the click ID). When you sign up, it is saved with your account, and we record when you first reach steps in the studio, such as confirming your email, making a project, opening pricing, buying credits and exporting. This record stays with us and is not shared with advertisers. We don't set the cookie when you have turned advertising cookies off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control.

If we advertise on Facebook or Instagram, the pages of our website that are open to everyone (home, pricing, sign-in and credits) use Meta’s advertising cookies and Pixel. They record that a page was viewed, that a checkout was started and, after a purchase, its value, so we can measure which ads lead to a purchase, and Meta may set cookies in your browser. From our servers we also tell Meta when you create an account, start a checkout or make a purchase (with its value), using a hashed email address and account ID, your IP address and browser details. We never send your projects, scripts or recordings, and we don’t track the studio pages where you work. You can turn advertising cookies off at any time below, and we treat your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal as turning them off.

Retention and security

We retain account and project information while needed to provide the service. Archiving a project hides it from your active projects; it does not delete its files. Removed content, job inputs, exports and backups may be retained to support recovery and reliable processing. Payment and security records may be kept longer where needed for legal obligations or disputes.

We use access controls and private media storage to protect your information. No system can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, under applicable transfer safeguards.

Your choices and rights

You can edit your project information and download your media and completed exports in the studio. To request access, correction, a copy of your personal information or account deletion, use our Help & support page. We may verify your identity before acting. Deletion is handled by request; archiving a project or signing out does not delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data protection authority. Some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons; we will explain any applicable limits when responding.

Children and policy changes

TaleSpool is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate. We may update this policy as the service changes and will update the date above. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
